TIRANA, June 27/ATA/- The works at Fier bypass have continued at a rapid pace in order to meet the set deadline and open in one lane on June 30, 2019.
Prime Minister Edi Rama posted Thursday on the social media the image from the building works in this rather important road axis, stating that Fier bypass will avoid the heavy traffic during the summer season and cut the travel distance between the capital Tirana and the South of the country.
For the time being, it takes at least 40 minutes to travel through the old road. During the summer season, the holiday-makers frequenting the southern beaches spend several hours on the traffic and suffer hundreds of accidents. But, in a few weeks, this will belong to the past. Fier bypass is toward completion and the travellers will avoid the old road.
The pavement of the 22 kilometres of a new highway aims to avoid the old national road that connects Fier to the city of Vlora.
The 22 km long Fier bypass worth 60 million Euros funded by EBRD and BEI is part of the most important corridor that connects the North with the South of the country and passes from Lushnja to Vlora.//a.i./
