PM Rama: SP to keep moving forward together with Albanian citizens

TIRANA, June 26 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama voiced determination that he and his Socialist Party, with the support of the Albanian people, will press ahead with reforms and development projects across the country, while accusing opposition and the country’s President of efforts to hamper the country’s progress and EU membership process.

“These are raising Haxhi Qamili’s flag, becoming the grotesque embodiment of the notorious Haxhi who used to say that he doesn’t care about France or England as long as he enjoyed support of Kavaja and Shijak. These too, through the President of the country, claim that neither European Union, nor the United States of America have the right to say their word about Albania and they have no obligations towards Albanian people,” PM Rama stated, in a reference to the rebel leader Haxhi Qamil Feza and his movement to overthrow of the Western-installed Prince Wied back in 1914-1915.

Addressing a cheering crowd of supporters and local residents in the central city of Elbasan, the Socialist leader said the June 30 is a moment when every Albanian citizen, whether Socialist or Democrat, should reflect in best interest of their own families and the country as a whole.

Commenting the protest staged by a group of Democratic Party supporters, led by the former DP lawmaker Luçiano Boçi, PM Rama said their protest reminded him of a handful of communist supporters who sought to stop democracy back in the ‘90s.

He reiterated that SP is determined to move forward together with Albanian citizens in best interest of Albania and the children of this country.
