TIRANA, June 26 /ATA/ – Albanian President Ilir Meta praised Wednesday Hungary’s sincere support for Albania’s European Union integration process and its bid to open the EU membership negotiations as he received the visiting Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó.
President Meta also praised the traditionally very good ties between Albania and Hungary, highlighting the potential to further deepen the bilateral relations and economic cooperation in particular.
The head of state put emphasis on the importance of addressing the key priorities in order to receive a positive decision from the European Council this fall, urging both sides to engage in dialogue and to resolve the political crisis that has gripped the country as soon as possible.
“Any action on path towards lawlessness and conflict, takes Albania out of its European perspective. Meanwhile, all internal or external factors that contribute to this scenario will be held responsible to the Albanian people,” President Meta said during the meeting.
