TIRANA, June 21 /ATA/ – The Democratic Party leader Lulzim Basha on Friday called for the arrest of individuals involved in vote-ringing and reiterated the opposition’s non-negotiable condition for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Addressing his supporters at the HQ of his Democratic Party, Basha reiterated the opposition’s demand for the PM’s resignation and creation of a transitional government that would prepare free and fair elections.
Following a rally in front of the government building, where no incidents were recorded since no projectiles and pyrotechnics were hurled at the police as it has been the case in the previous protests, the opposition supporters massed in front of the parliament building where they stayed for few minutes before heading to the DP headquarters.
Basha expressed gratitude to the Albanian citizens for descending in what he said “will be long remembered as the ocean of hope that initiated the great change.”
“Nothing would stop us and we will not make a step backward. There are no elections and there will be no elections without the opposition,” he stated.
