TIRANA, June 19 /ATA/ “The Parliamentary Law Committee has demanded that President of the Republic Ilir Meta should appear before a hearing session on Monday after the approval of request for his impeachment,” the SP lawmaker Vasilika Hysi said in a televised interview.
Hysi has spoken about the steps to be taken towards impeachment. Asked whether it is an act of muscle-flexing in the absence of Constitutional Court, Hysi said they are following the procedure in accordance with the law.
The difference between majority and opposition is that we follow the procedure in compliance with the law, whereas the opposition flexes its muscles in the streets. The Law Committee has received a request signed by 55 SP MPs to start procedures for impeachment of President of the Republic. In pursuit of the Constitution and parliament’s rule, Law Committee has initiated the procedure referred by parliament speaker for which President of the Republic has been notified beforehand. Today we held the first hearing session on presentation of the request whereas the Law Committee had been earlier notified of the request.
