TIRANA, June 12 /ATA/-“If the Constitution stipulates that the elections should be held at a certain time, then the elections should be held at that time”, stated today Josip Juratovic, Chairman of the Parliamentary group for Cooperation between Germany and Southeastern Europe in reaction to President Ilir Meta cancelling the elections of June 30.
At the end of his visit in Tirana, Juratovic said at a press conference that the country has a Constitution and if it stipulates elections will be held at a certain time, they should be held at that time.
Further on, he highlighted the fact that elections are a competition among the parties.
“Every party has a right to take part in the process or not and the elections show what is done well and what is not”, said he.
Juratovic said that the Albanian people supports the EU perspective because it is looking for another opportunity of better jobs, better education and better healthcare system which must be part of the political debate.
He emphasized that the politicians should focus on things like these so that to gain the respect of the citizens./a.f/ /a.g/p.s./
