TIRANA, June 9 /ATA/-President Ilir Meta’s decision to cancel local elections is a political act as he appeared like a representative and even a leader of the opposition”, stated today Prime Minister Edi Rama.
During his electoral meeting with Dibra residents on Sunday, PM Rama said that the president’s decision to abolish decree on election date has put everybody into an embarrassing position.
“Meta does not deserve the office he holds. He doesn’t deserve the title of guardian of the Constitution and he doesn’t deserve the high profile of the national unity figure”, said PM Rama.
According to PM Rama, “the president’s decision provokes division and conflict. From the political viewpoint, it’s a suicide: from the legal viewpoint it’s a null and from the moral viewpoint it’s a shame”.
The prime minister pointed to the fact that the president cancelled elections right in the middle of the electoral campaign. And he did that right at the moment when the opposition protest was fading and when the opposition got a heavy blow from the USA that warned it against violence.
PM Rama said that, “President’s decision to cancel elections is as worth as saying he would cancel Iceland-Albania football match./e.caushi/p.s./
