Veliaj: SP thinks about future generation, not next elections

TIRANA, June 1 /ATA/ – The Socialist Party is the only political party in the country always thinking about the next generation and not the next elections, Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj said in his remarks at the launch of the electoral campaign on Saturday afternoon.

Addressing the campaign rally at the capital’s Olympic Park, Veliaj, who is seeking re-election in the June 30 mayoral elections, noted that the event was taking place on the Children’s Day at a newly built space dedicated to children and young people.

“Today it is June 1, the Children’s Day and we meet at this new space dedicated to children and young people. Four years ago, the Tirana Municipality was paralyzed, but four years later it is time for Tirana and whole Albania to move forward and make further progress,” Veliaj stated.

“We can’t tell our children that Albania won’t be governed and polls won’t take place, because a handful of immature children of politics are not ready to take part in this race. This is a battle for our children and not a battle for the political parties,” he said.

Therefore – he went on to say – Albania, Tirana, Shkodra, Tropoja, Kamza, whole Albania and children wherever they are should win on June 30.

“Under Edi Rama’s government, Albania has made biggest progress made during all years of the country’s long transition combined. However, it is up to us to put an end to this transition on June 30 and build a dignified country for ourselves and our children,” Veliaj added.

“To everyone saying Rama go, we tell, yes, Rama should go firmly and resolutely further forward to successfully govern Albania,” Veliaj concluded.
