Soreca: Albania has reached a milestone, parties should unite behind integration process

TIRANA, May 29 /ATA/ – All political parties should unite behind the goal of EU integration and put behind their divisions.

This is what EU ambassador in Tirana, Luigi Soreca, told a joint news conference with PM Edi Rama, after presentation of the EC progress report.

“There are some challenges that need to be consolidated with regard to the progress particularly in two areas. Albania should continue to build on this solid track record in the fight against corruption and organized crime and secondly the need for a strong national consensus on the top priority of European integration by overcoming polarization and showing strong political will to go beyond party divisions “-Soreca said.

Therefore, he continued, we reiterate the calls to all parties made in the last couple of months to engage in dialogue in the interest of the public that stands above all.

“Today Albania has reached a very important milestone. I would like to congratulate Prime Minister Rama and all his government on their achievements and confirmation of the Commission’s positive recommendation for opening the EU accession negotiations, “Soreca said.

The head of EU Delegation in Tirana said that the great popular support and trust in the EU have helped Albania move forward and consolidate the process of unprecedented reforms that you are conducting.”
