TIRANA, May 28 ATA/ – The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) is continuing consultations with interest groups on the Amendments to the Criminal Code to take punitive measures against those who abuse food safety.
The Albania’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Bledi Çuçi, held Tuesday a meeting with the producer organizations and consumer protection associations where they shared views on legal changes being undertaken by the Albanian government to increase food safety across the country.
“Penal Code includes harsher punishments for those who import or trade in expired food products or mislabeled goods,” Minister Çuçi stressed.
“Amendments to the Penal Code provide for criminal imprisonment or criminal detention for a maximum of fifteen years for manufacturers and importers who abuse food safety, endangering the health and life of consumers,” he added.//a.i/
