TIRANA, May 24 /ATA/ – Deputy PM Erion Braçe stated on Friday that President of the Republic has no legal space to change the polls’ day.
In a televised interview, Deputy PM Braçe stated that his stand runs counter to the constitution. Elections will be held on June 30 and no one has the power to change that.
In response to the question whether elections could be held without the opposition, Braçe said: This is not my choice, it is a serious precedent for democracy as the constitutional rights of Albanians are in danger of being trampled underfoot. However I have learned from President that the Constitution stands above all. As long as the President abides by the Constitution, then we should adhere to the Constitution, the President either.
