EC’s progress report to be released on May 29

TIRANA, May 24 /ATA/ The EC’s progress report on Albania and other Western Balkan countries, which are in EU accession process, will be released on May 29.
The European Western Balkans website confirms the publication of progress report for the Western Balkan countries. On May 29, the European Commission’s assessments of the work done by Albania in implementation of five key priorities will be provided.

The report on European Union enlargement to the Western Balkans will be presented by the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Johannes Hahn. The meeting will take place only a few days after EU elections.

“The European Western Balkans” says there were signals for postponement of progress report due to the short period between May 29th, when the progress report is expected and June 18th when the meeting of the ministers of the member states will take the decision on accession negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia.
However, this has not happened as according to the “European Western Balkans” site, the progress report will be published exactly on May 29 as planned.

The decision on opening of EU accession negotiations will be articulated a few days later, June 18th.
