Shameti: Justice reform implementation is irreversible

TIRANA, May 22 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – Implementation of a crucial justice system reform in Albania is unstoppable, Socialist Party lawmaker Adnor Shameti stated on Wednesday, adding “whoever fears its implementation should know that the reform is irreversible.”

Commenting the President Ilir Meta’s statements over the ongoing justice reform in the country, the Socialist MP said during a televised interview that the overhaul of Albania’s justice system has been one of the most important and comprehensible reforms implemented over the past 30 years.

“The justice reform is indisputable and therefore I would like to assure anyone fearing its implementation that its implementation is irreversible,” Shameti stated.

“I learned about the President’s comments and I personally and politically regret such statements. I would like to tell citizens we are in the last meters of justice reform implementation,” he said.

According to Shameti, “the reform justice in the Republic of Albania has been one of the most substantial, largest and most comprehensive reforms in the last 30 years, which has enjoyed broad international support and understanding.”

“The justice reform has been supported by our Euro-Atlantic partners through their two missions, namely EURALIUS and OPDAT. I would consider completely unfounded any anathema to this unlimited assistance through expertise and human resources,” the Socialist lawmaker stated.
