Energy efficiency in public schools through renewable sources of energy

TIRANA, May 21/ATA/- The National Agency of Natural Resources (AKBN) in the quality of the LED Project Leader, or “Towards Improving Energy Efficiency in Public Schools and Using More Renewable Energy Resources”, organized today in Tirana an “INFO DAY” with sector representatives and other guests to raise public awareness of innovations and positive aspects of using renewable energy.

Experts of the field explained and responded to the audience’s questions on the benefits and scope of renewable energy, public awareness on importance of this field in everyday life and the impact on economy and its environment.

The LED project reflects an energy challenge, focusing on a specific set of public buildings such as schools where promotion through children and the education system will effectively sensitize the use of renewable and energy efficient sources in our country.

This initiative was followed by the Assembly adopting the Law “On Renewable Energy”, which is welcomed by the business sector because it envisages expansion of investments in photovoltaic parks using the solar energy.

Experts at the Ministry of Energy say that due to the climate, solar energy in Albania has high yields. The government guarantees the purchase of energy from these investments at a price determined by the Energy Regulatory Entity.

But, according to the projects presented there are also cases where businesses want to build solar panels for their own energy needs so that to reduce costs./e.xh/p.s./
