TIRANA, May 12 /ATA/ – The Minister of State for Relations with the Parliament Elisa Spiropali, also spokesperson of the Government, reacted Saturday to an earlier statement issued by the President of the Republic Ilir Meta, who called for the release of the Democratic Party’s Secretary Sahit Dollapi, saying “Sahit Dollapi should have been rushed to hospital and not be in police custody.”
Spiropali says that “the President of the Republic unintentionally has confused Sahit Dollapi, the DP’s Secretary for protests, with TV Top Channel reporter Eno Xhaja, who was violated by Dollapi’s followers.”
“He meant sending Eno and not Sahit to hospital and that’s why, since everyone understands the President whenever protests are staged, I thought I could help him by offering this correction,” Spiropali said, posting a video showing Dollapi assaulting police officers during protest in front of the Prime Minister’s office in Tirana.
