“For the first time, the Penal Code stipulates that violence against health professionals is punished with 1 to 5 years of imprisonment”, said Manastirliu.

The Code also stipulates tougher measures in cases of threat to doctor or hampering the health professionals doing their duty.

The Code carries an important change in regard to human error and negligence in treatment.

“The human medical error is not considered any more a penal offence, but negligence in treatment is punished in an escalated way according to damage caused to the patient”, said Manastirliu.
