TIRANA, April 20 /ATA/ – The metropolitan archbishop of Tirana-Durres, Monsignor George Frendo wished Albanians a happy Easter holiday on Saturday, as Catholic faithful in Albania and around the world prepare to celebrate Christ’s resurrection.
Extending his warmest greetings and best wishes to Albanian believers, Monsignor George Frendo also urged politicians to commit to a fair solution.
“I appeal to all politicians as it is their moral duty to commit to a fair solution and concern more about the common good due to the position they hold. In the meetings with people and his followers, the resurrected Christ always sent same wish ‘May peace be upon you. Christ always urged people to be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as I forgave you. To all those who use violence and vandalism in protests, Jesus reminds them His words when he told Peter: ‘For all who take the sword will perish by the sword’. While for those who enjoy political authority, I would like to remind His words at the last supper, when Jesus washed the disciples’ feet, He told them, “I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. The people’s representatives should be an example for the people,” he said.
Easter, also called Pascha or Resurrection Sunday, is a festival and holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day after His burial following His crucifixion.
