TIRANA, April 17/ATA/-The important steps undertaken up to now for management of the protected areas in Albania were at the focus of discussions during the wrap-up event of the NaturAl project.
Attending the meeting were the EU ambassador to Albania Luigi Soreca, Italy’s ambassador Alberto Cutillo and Minister of Tourism and Environment Blendi Klosi.
The participants discussed on the need of constant financial support not only for the management of the protected areas, but even toward establishment of the Natura 2000 network in Albania.
Minister Klosi said that Tomorri Mount has been declared a protected area and there is no quarry there. The battle at Mount of Kruja continued for 30 years, but only last year we declared it a protected area as we managed to eliminate all the quarries there, said Klosi adding that after revocation of the mine and environmental permits, there begins the rehabilitation of Kruja Mount.
He concluded by saying that these protected areas will not be any more under industrial action.
The EU projects target that these areas are clearly defined as national and European wealth in regard to nature./a.a/ j.p/p.s./
