TIRANA, April 13 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – Albania’s united opposition parties ended a protest in Tirana, the country’s capital, on Saturday evening. The five-hour rally degenerated in violent actions by the protesters.
Addressing his supporters, the main opposition Democratic Party leader reiterated the message that “solution would come only through free and fair elections that would return the legitimate parliament to the country.”
“An unprecedented protest in Albania’s pluralism history. Gratitude for this monumental resistance for hours long in this dusk of tyranny and birth of new democracy for every Albanian,” Basha said.
Despite bad weather – Basha went on saying – “today on April 13, we succeeded to hold the largest protest and show our determination to go to the bottom of the battle until victory.”
“No illegal action, neither gas throwing, nor arrests, or attempts to intimidate people will not succeed. This is the most noble union for a vital cause,” Basha stated.
He vowed that “the opposition will continue this battle as we are on the secure path towards country’s liberation from the criminal clique”.
