TIRANA, April 8 /ATA/ – By I. Vata/ – “Dialogue is needed for electoral reform, it is high time for compromise,” the EU ambassador, Luigi Soreca, stated on Monday adding that govt. and opposition should sit at a roundtable.
EU ambassador to Albania, Luigi Soreca, commented on political situation and appealed to political parties to enter into dialogue.
“Dialogue is needed for electoral reform, it is high time for compromise. The government and the opposition alike have to sit at a round table to thrash out some changes to the Electoral Code. The government and the opposition should meet in the middle of the bridge, “said Soreca.
In his address to the event entitled “Journey towards establishment and functioning of new e-system for declaration of private interests of the elected and some public servants,” Soreca described fight against corruption as a key priority for Albania.
“Fight against corruption is a key priority, it damages reputation of the country. Fight against this phenomenon requires political will. The asset declaration system is of paramount importance,” Soreca said.
Commenting on the process of appointing General Prosecutor, the EU ambassador said there is still time ahead until the deadline.
