TIRANA, April 2 /ATA/ – By I. Vata/ – “Modernization of police gives police forces an advantage over crime. State Police are determined in their efforts to fight crime,” Minister of Interior, Sandër Lleshaj, said in his remarks at the Ministry of Interior conference “Case management.”
Participating in this conference were the US Charge D’ Affaires in Tirana, Director General of State Police, members of Parliamentary Security Committee, directors of Prosecution Office as well as other law enforcement agencies.
Lleshaj said that police will have the edge over crime. “It is the area where we will dominate, because no matter how much the organized crime becomes sophisticated or complicated, it will never catch up with us, our level of sophistication and modernization,” he said.
“Another reason why modernization is the key is because although State Police are small in size, but they have to deal with so many tasks and problems. Modernization is the element that makes up for such burden making police more efficient.”
Lleshaj added that the system to be finalized is another step forward in modernization after that set to operation a few weeks ago with the introduction of boards in service of road police.
“Today we are talking about a big project which, as mentioned by the Charge D’affaires, was implemented thanks to a very significant support from the US. The US has assisted us in many areas, mainly in building systems that is the creation of architecture enabling our advancement in all areas. It’s a big project worth $ 10mln. This program has invested in people since a large number of police officers have been trained, there are 6000-6100 trainees, while the rest consisted in the technical aspect, “he said.
Lleshaj said with this system in place we set a new standard in State Police.
“With the system in place, we standardize working procedures. It enables us to handle issues strictly, so we do not run into bottlenecks during the process because manual process management requires technical instruments. It enables us to have a full picture of reality, everything happening is reported to the police on time. Also, the management system helps us make analyses reorienting the police towards new policies to address crime and other phenomena, “the minister explained.
Minister Lleshaj went on saying that this system sets the basis for a new level of cooperation between the State Police and the prosecution, guaranteeing a joint approach. The system avoids parallel snapshots police and prosecution tend to give. It is not uncommon that the picture of the reality police offer is different from the prosecution’s. The system eliminates the institutional alibis. ”
