TIRANA, March 29 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ The opposition protests are nothing but a tempest in a teapot, PM Edi Rama stated during a meeting with the residents of Durrës in the framework of “Municipality we want” tour.
“Tomorrow right here you will see visitors from Vora, Kamza, Kavaja, Vau i Dejës, Shkodra, employees of the above mentioned municipalities who promote political tourism, they move according to a calendar of dates fixed by the tour agency of protests. They come to Tirana whenever there is a plenary session and gather once a month in boulevard,” Rama said mocking the opposition protests.
He went on saying: When the opposition protesters come to Durrës, they will witness the change. “To hear, there is nothing to hear as it is the same CD playing over and over again, however they will see Durres as never before. While the gramophone will be playing for Dako this time, they can get around the city to see the works of Dako and the municipality of Durrës,” Rama said.
“Today I had a meeting with 30 journalists from Italy with whom I talked about tourism. As we were talking about what Albanian offers, I added another thing to the list, protests.. Who happens to come to Tirana on Thursday, they can go to parliament and see how a protest plays itself out or see a boulevard with protesters.”
PM said these protests are like a tempest in a teapot, they are not in the way the Italian journalists have seen them on TV channels or in the photos featured in the writings about protests that take place here.
They are professional protesters, municipality employees who do not serve their citizens if the tour agency takes them to protest. At this point any reasonable citizen can make a difference. They close the service counters to join the protest called “meeting of the century”, “meeting of all time” or whatever. When we hold our congress, it is an “anti-meeting,’ Rama said.
PM expressed his confidence that even the citizens who have not voted for SP are concerned about development, transformation and progress now.
