TIRANA, March 28 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ “In the last 2 months of this year at least 60 money laundering cases have been referred and roughly EUR 8.2 mln in crime-deriving proceeds have been seized, when throughout 2013 the seizures of criminal proceeds amounted to EUR 1 mln,” – PM Edi Rama said.

Speaking in parliament, PM touched on the fundamental transformation of State Police while citing concrete statistics about the situation of security in the country.

He said that overall the organized crime seizures in these 5 years are a multiply of the value seized in 8 years of the government led by the current opposition which cannot govern itself now, or 6 times more.

PM stressed that we put a lot of efforts into improvement and are not satisfied with what we have achieved, because we are quite aware of what remains to be done.

“Today Albania is a much safer country than 5 years ago. Such a thing is unquestioned, although it is constantly discussed in all the media clubs and targeted all the time, exposing any event that does not constitute an event in Albania,” Rama said.

He said that all those who have played this people for a fool have paid and will pay the price of such underestimation, which is due to the lack of their vision, ideas and all those elements molding this bunch of people into a structured group pulled behind a given purpose.
