TIRANA, March 23 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama pledged Saturday the university infrastructure and higher education sector transformation during his government’s second term in office.
“During this term in office, we will build the huge university transformation site, whereas the university campus in Tirana will be constructed during the second term in office of Tirana Mayor,” PM Rama said.
Rama said “I haven’t forgotten even for a single second that the office only belongs to him, while the real power belongs to the majority of Albanian citizens, who gave us the mandate to build the Albania we want.”
The government head stated that “power belongs to students, who gave us the precious year end slap on the face, yet it told whole Albania that nobody but us can address their problems.”
“By end of this term in office, this government will do for students more than any previous government during the past 20 years combined,” Rama said, highlighting a series of projects already underway as part of the Pact for the University, including the removal of the tuition fees and provision of scholarships to certain categories of students and halving the tuition fees for every student.
According to Rama, the online university libraries, the renewed university administrative boards, reconstruction of the university premises and labs are some of the most recent projects launched under the Pact for the University.
Rama also assured that every university dormitory in Tirana, Shkodër, Vlora and Elbasan will be reconstructed up to decent standards and conditions during this term in office.
