TIRANA, March 23 /ATA/- Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Blendi, Çuçi, speaking on the first panel dedicated to electoral reform and vote of emigrants, outlined the political journey of this reform in one year and a half.
Çuçi said that contents for a document, law, is as much important as the approach to drafting this law or policy.
Upon the request and with the full readiness of majority, at the request of opposition upon the start of parliamentary session in 2017, precisely in October this year, parliament decided to establish an interim ad-hoc committee to deal with electoral reform, a commission established according to a partisan formula, determining equal members for majority and opposition alike, two co-chairmen with equal rights, one from DP and one from SP, to address all issues emerging since the last electoral reform including the contribution of OSCE and politics.
Minister also touched on the vote of emigrants.
He said that time has come for emigrants to vote from the country they live in, which applies to general elections as local elections are a different thing, they are about people living in a given area. If we approve these changes, the emigrants will be entitled to vote after so many years.
