TIRANA, March 20 /ATA/- The government is taking concrete measures in three main directions with view to reducing informality in the country’s economy.
Dajna Sorensen, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy, told ATA that “there are a number of stakeholders that are co-ordinating their efforts against informality, meanwhile the concrete measures are limited to Tax Administration; Labor Inspectorate and Social Security.
“Citizens should be sensitized about the necessity of retirement payments. While the measures have been extended in three directions, we are also working in coordination with foreign partners on a package of sustainable measures to reduce long-term informality, “she said.
Sorensen explained that there are three important moments in terms of informality: the share of self-employment that goes unreported; the employment of persons against an incomplete pay and the third element are the employees within the family.
Referring to the recently published World Bank report on the labor market in the Western Balkans, Sorensen states that “informality in Albania has decreased to 36% from the previous 50%.”
