TIRANA, March 20 /ATA/ The extended meeting of local taskforce against cannabis cultivation and trafficking was held on Wednesday in the city of Gjirokastra with view to sensitizing the community in this region.
In attendance were the leader of Monitoring Group at the Ministry of Interior, Shaban Nexhi, chairman of the regional council, mayors of local government units, directors at Regional Police Directorate, Border and Migration, heads of territorial branches, members of this task force.
The meeting featured an analysis of the performance by law enforcement institutions and local govt. in prevention and cultivation of narcotics in 2018.
Participants highlighted the results achieved over the last year and asserted the high commitment of all state structures to prevention of narcotics cultivation.
The local task force should continue to exercise its legal powers for control of entire territory of Gjirokastra region by mapping out joint controls with the state police and all participating institutions in this task force.
