Marku: Vetting, motivation to perform duty with high dedication

TIRANA, March 13 /ATA/ – A. Fortuzi/- Attorney General Arta Marku has conducted the annual analysis of performance in Shkodra district Prosecution office. Marku pointed out at the meeting with prosecutors that vetting is not about punishment, it is about motivation for performing the duty with dedication, it is about gaining the dignity back.

In the annual analysis, Marku appealed to prosecutors to do their job free from political influence. She added that last year was not that easy for the prosecution body.
According to her, independence is about exercise of functions free from internal or external interventions. You have the opportunity to deliver the best in any decision-making entirely free from influence of any kind.

“I ask each of you not to regard the process of vetting as a punishment, but as an opportunity to gain the dignity back. In your work you will have my institutional and personal support. You have the support of national and international factor alike,” said Marku.

Attorney General took the opportunity to criticize politics for pointing the finger of blame at prosecution body, causing bottlenecks in the work of prosecution. “You have been referred to during any political conflict or debate. Politicians think they have every right to judge any issue that goes against their interest, showing no will and understanding to let the prosecutors do their job,” Marku said.

Although you have worked in a difficult terrain, you have made it. All I ask for is accountability in every decision-making. Independence means added responsibility, independence does not mean chaos, interpreting law in the light of law or interest.
