TIRANA, July 26/ATA/-Albania’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs is attending the Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom in Washington DC by invitation of the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
On the sidelines of the conference, FM Bushati met with Undersecretary for Political Affairs Roger Mull. During this meeting, FM Bushati praised the U.S. constant support for implementation of reforms, especially reform in the judiciary, as well as for guaranteeing security and stability in the Balkan region.
FM Bushati stressed that U.S. should continue to be present in the Western Balkans region, not only as a factor of peace and security, but also as a counterbalance to influence of the third powers in the region.
On his part, Undersecretary Mull thanked Albania for its valuable contribution both within NATO and as a constructive factor in the Western Balkans region.
Undersecretary Mull stressed the strategic importance that the US gives to Albania’s EU integration and implementation of internal reforms.
Undersecretary Mull also acquainted Minister Bushati with the main messages of the Helsinki Summit and the views of the Department of State on the latest developments in the European Union.
Later on, Minister Bushati also held a meeting with Senator Roger Wicker, the Helsinki Commission Chair./a.g/p.s./
