TIRANA, June 15 /ATA/ – It’s a thrilling experience to visit Shala outfall which meets Drini river, actually the Koman lake. It is exactly two years since this lake has become a tourist attraction in north Albania. It is called “Blini i Gurit t’Lekës”, where the leader of Dukagjin, Leka, has spent the last years of his life.

The Shala outfall on Lake Koman has become one of the most attractive river destinations in the Albanian Alps. Isolated and cut off from high peaks, the lively flow of Shala water offers a breathtaking panorama which looks like the vistas of remote Thailand.

The path to get to this enchanting panorama is somewhat long, but not tedious, as it is diverse. It is mainly trodden by tourists departing from Tirana, Durrës, Elbasan, Lushnja … mainly Middle and North Albania. Tirana visitors leave early at about 5 am and after 2 hours of travelling on asphalted road they arrive at Vaja e Dejës from where it takes another hour of travelling on unpaved track to the departure point of ferries and boats at Lake Koman .

The ferry schedules are 6 and 9 am. However, for 90 euros in total (5 euro per person), boats with a capacity of 20 seats are available to visitors to enjoy the nearby spots of Koman Lake and Shala River.

The Shala Valley, an unspoilt river area, which has been added to tour guides of travel agencies, has become a major draw to tourists due to natural beauties and numerous opportunities for adventure tourism.
