TIRANA, June 8 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – The Trans-Adriatic Pipeline’s compressor station in Fier, southwest Albania, is another major work as part of the natural gas pipeline project with huge potential impacts on employment and economic development.

Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Damian Gjiknuri, visited the TAP’s compressor station in Fier for the installation of the turbo compressors on Friday.

In his remarks, PM Rama said the station is expected to become operational in 2020 and it will employ more than 250 workers during this year only.

According to him, “other contracting firms involved in the pipeline construction have created another 100 new jobs in the area.”

“Local residents and workers represent over 70 percent of the workforce engaged in the project’s development. This brings important economic impact, but it also helps in developing professional and technical skills in constructing this incredible infrastructure,” Rama said.
