TIRANA, June 5 / ATA-N.Lena / -Ecotourism is already gaining priority over the seas in many Protected Areas in Albania, extending holiday season with year-round tourism.
The tourism sector plays a critical role in the Protected Areas throughout the year.
Albania has 15 national parks which are of great interest for their tradition, nature and resources. Mount Tomorri with about 24 thousand hectares of forest and massive pilgrimage site; Sazan Karaburuni- Marine Park, the first of its kind in Albania, as a marine protected area, with many still undiscovered aquatic archeology; Llogara and Butrint, which remain the elite of our archeology parks, Divjaka, Dajti, Lura, Shebeniku, are also very interesting for tourism.
Protected areas are essential for biodiversity conservation, often providing habitat and protection from hunting for threatened and endangered species. Protection helps maintain ecological processes that cannot survive in most intensely managed landscapes and seascape
And today there are positive models of Valbona Park, one of the parks that has moved faster in terms of infrastructure. Theth, Sazan, Divjaka, Prespa, also are going well.
The adventure, ecotourism and history, culinary are an essential part of the tourism in the Protected Areas of Albania.
Recently, there has been an increase in the number of foreign tourist coming not only from the Eastern Europe but also all over the world.
