More than 10 thousand people employed in three month’s time

TIRANA, June 1 /ATA/-Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Friday that more than 10 thousand people have been employed during the recent three months of the current year. While the objective is 25 thousand people employed up to the end of the year.

PM Rama made the statement during the national conference on sustainable development and employment policies.

He said that the next challenge of the government is formalization given that a part of the paid salaries are in the black.

“The country’s economic growth came to a halt because of the global crisis and a domestic crisis of a state system almost in collapse from the interaction viewpoint”, said PM Rama adding that nowadays we have some encouraging indicators.

“It is encouraging that through change of methodology and a restructuring of the labour service during the recent three months, i.e. March, April and May, 10 thousand people were employed. I am optimistic that we shall meet the objective of having 25 thousand people employed in 2018 only through the labour offices”, said he.

But, the prime minister emphasized that declaration of the real salary remains a concern.

“41% of the salaries are declared to be 30 thousand leks. This is a lie. As a matter of fact, a part of the salary is formally paid so that to avoid tax and the other part is in the black. We shall fight this phenomenon. There is only a small number of unregistered workers, but there are many who receive a part of the salary in the black”, said the prime minister.

Further on, the prime minister said that youth unemployment in Albania is 26%, the lowest in the region.

“According to Institute of Statistics, during the last quarter of 2017, the employment scale for the age-group 15-64 years old is 58.2%, or 15% higher as compared to 2013. This is a good basis for taking forward a process of reforms and measures to increase employment”, emphasized the prime minister.

Likewise, PM Rama expressed his confidence that during the period 2018-2021 there will be a jump in employment thanks to a programme designed for a greater economic growth and a higher real employment.

The prime minister listed three sectors of the greatest employment potential: infrastructure, tourism and manufacture./a.gjonaj/ /a.g/p.s./
