TIRANA, May 31/ATA/-Next month will be taken an important decision not only for Albania, but for all the European Union.
The lawmaker of the Social Democratic Party and also member of the Committee on EU Affairs in the German Bundestag Metin Hakverdi is paying a visit in Albania during which he met with the Chairperson of the Socialist Party Parliamentary group Taulant Balla and later on followed the plenary session of the Parliament.
Speaking to reporters in front of the Parliament’s building, Hakverdi said that, “We would like to make progress with EU enlargement. We have been in favour of this process since a long time ago”.
“The enlargement process is not only in favour of Albania, but of all the EU. I am optimistic not only for opening of the negotiations, but even for further progress”, said Hakverdi.
On his part, Balla said that, “The German SPD, part of the ruling governance coalition of Germany, is a great supporter of the enlargement process of the EU, but the important thing for us is that the German social democrats support Albania opening of the EU accession negotiations and a positive decision of the European Council on June 28 ”. /a.g/p.s./
