TIRANA, May 25 /ATA/ – The new pension scheme entitles each citizens to receive benefit based on the contribution made into the scheme.
Speaking about the pension reform carried out by the Socialist government, Prime Minister Edi Rama told local residents in Kuçova, Berat region, on Friday that the government has approved a contribution-based pension system.
But the scheme’s only problem is that the citizens who have retired prior to the pension reform won’t benefit under the new pension scheme.
“The workers who retire after the reform will receive higher pension payment of around 36 000 lek,” Rama explained.
PM Rama said that the steady economic growth will allow the government to plan a significant pension hike.
“If we succeed in maintaining this progressive growth and reach the projected five percent growth rate, the government will be able to approve a significant pension increase,” the Premier said.
PM Rama said that the projected 5% growth will be supported by the planned infrastructure investment and major private investment projects, as well as the steady growth of the tourism industry.
