Gjiknuri: Nation’s Highway protest is politically motivated

TIRANA, April 3 /ATA/-Albania’s Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Damian Gjiknuri gave a press conference on Tuesday condemning the violent protest at the Nation’s Highway and considered it a “politically-motivated violence”.

According to Gjiknuri, “The event was used as a political pretext to achieve other goals”.

“I express my deep regret about the violence that took place few days ago at a public object because irrespective of the fact that it is managed by a private concessionaire it is a public road and an asset of the Albanian state”, said Gjiknuri.

Gjiknuri pointed to the masterminds of the arson attacks who according to him are in Tirana and argued that in the protest took part only a small group of politically-motivated Kukësi people. While the people detained by police have criminal records; they have nothing to do with the protest against the toll on the road, but have been urged politically./p.s./
