TIRANA, March 16 /ATA/- The Mayor of Lezha, Fran Frrokaj, and 22 officials from the property registry office and local government were arrested on Friday on charges of abuse with office and efforts to appropriate public land along the coast.
Police in the north-western town of Lezha escorted Mayor Fran Frrokaj, elected in 2015 as the Democratic Party’s candidate.
In addition to Frrokaj, Deputy Mayor of Lezha and some 22 other accomplices have been also arrested.
The arrests were made after months-long investigation launched by Prosecution Office into alleged abuse with public land along the coast.
