TIRANA, Feb 14 /ATA/- Partnership with Great Britain is crucial in consolidating Democracy in Albania, President of the Republic , Ilir Meta, is quoted as saying during a meeting with a group of British lawmakers, members of UK Inter-Parliamentary Union.
President Meta praised the strong and traditional partnership between the two countries and expressed gratitude for the support of United Kingdom towards consolidation of democracy and reinforcement of the rule of law in Albania. In particular, President Meta appreciated the role of British lawmakers in promotion of Albania and stressed the need to intensify bilateral cooperation, particularly in the sectors of economy and trade.
Meta expressed his confidence that the Albanian youths who have graduated from UK universities will easily integrate in all levels of decision-making and serve as catalyst for mutual cooperation. Concerning cooperation in security issues and common challenges in this direction,
Meta stressed the importance of close cooperation in the fight against organized crime and traffic in human beings in the future.
President Meta voiced his confidence that in the framework of the next London summit on the Western Balkans, the British MPs will keep their focus on Albania and the Western Balkans. British MPs assured President Meta that the UK is committed to strengthening cooperation with Albania and the Western Balkan region in bilateral relations and in the framework of NATO and EU.
