TIRANA, Feb 11 /ATA/ – The strategy for tourism development 2018-2020 sets out the path of tourism development encapsulated in a document explaining in detail how tourism will develop all year round and how tourism industry will develop into the mainstay of economy.
The strategy is on the stage of consultations with the interested parties and stakeholders. As part of the consultations’ process, Minister of Tourism and Environment Blendi Klosi joined a meeting with representatives of the municipalities and tour operators.
In his remarks, Klosi said that we anticipate that 2018 will see an increase of 15 to 20 percent in the number of visiting tourists.
The minister asked the municipalities to identify the holiday hotspots and agro-tourism farms and guide them through the application programme for financial support provided by govt. in place.
He added that the strategy is intended to put the situation back on trails. “ If we want to make Albania a tourist attraction up to European standards, we need to manage our capacities, human resources, this network relying on the people working each day and the policies built by our institution. Effective management is at the forefront of our strategy.
We are exploring ways of financial support for these centres which have the same philosophy as 5-star hotels because we strongly believe that a clear-cut strategy on agri-tourism development is closely linked with a boom in tourism.
Klosi also cited investments on the sign system of tourist roads. All these will lead to a 15- 20 percent increase in tourism compared to the previous year, he said.
The mayors across the country will receive a letter from me and minister Peleshi asking the contribution of each local institution to uncover and boost tourism in areas steeped in history and tradition. It is beyond necessary to establish a network of agro-tourist areas and farms, Klosi said.
