TIRANA, Feb 2 /ATA/ -Albania’s internationally renowned soprano Ermonela Jaho has been nominated for this year’s International Opera Awards, a trophy she won as Best Female Singer in 2016.

The Albanian-born opera singer, who shot to operatic stardom when she sang the title role in Puccini’s “Suor Angelica” at London’s Royal Opera in 2011, has kept giving brilliant performances with her roles in the international opera theaters even after winning the prestigious award, considered as the opera’s Oscar.

The great critical acclaim she has won in the international media, has earned Jaho a second nomination for the Best Female Singer category at the International Opera Awards for the Opera Readers’ Award.

Among other artists selected for Readers’ Award by the International Opera Awards’ jury are Malin Bystrom, Carmen Gianattasio, Barbara Hannigan, Hui He and Eva Maria Westbroek.

The International Opera Awards will be announced at a gala evening in London in April 9.

Meanwhile, the world-renowned Albanian artist promises a rich agenda with excellent productions in the world’s largest theatres.

Jaho is preparing her debut alongside legend of the opera Placido Domingo in Beijing.

Soprano Ermonela Jaho was hailed as a “revelation” by the French musical press after her debut as Violetta in La Traviata at L’Opera de Marseille in December of 2005 and has since gone on to debut at major theatres internationally.

She has performed for a range of top companies including Vienna State Opera, Bavarian State Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, New York, Paris Opéra, Berlin State Opera, Teatro Real, Madrid, Opéra de Lyon and Opéra de Marseille.
