TIRANA, May 23 /ATA/- Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dhimo Kote, during a meeting in Fier, which outlined the national scheme for agricultural support assured the farmers that they will not be alone.
“Agriculture specialists will contact you and are ready to help you out in the application for Support Scheme to receive free financing out of the fund that the Albanian government dedicated for agriculture,” Kote said.
In his remarks at the meeting, Kote said that the Agency for Agricultural and Rural Development has hit the mark with the funding it is disbursing to investments that impact the entire agricultural and agro-processing chain.
“The livestock subsidy, which is a priority in the 2020 Support Scheme, will continue next year, increasing funding for livestock in addition to agriculture, just as subsidy schemes are developing in other countries,” said Kote.
According to him, today there are about 1700 ha of greenhouses with farmers benefiting from 3 million ALL to 5 million ALL for the replacement of plastic sheeting in any type of greenhouse they have built on their plots.
In the area of Fier, which is famed for the highest agricultural production in Albania, 60 million euros are being invested in the irrigation and drainage system.
“In parallel with irrigation and drainage, the government is financing rural road infrastructure, improvement of electricity supply on top of the subsidies to increase domestic agricultural production or grants from the IPARD program, thus investing concurrently in entire agricultural and agro-processing chain,” said Deputy Minister.
He assured the farmers that local and central structures are working at full efficiency to address any need of the farmers with regard to application for support schemes.
