VIDEO/Gjirokastra, UNESCO heritage site 2005, city of history, legends and nature beauties

TIRANA, May 23 /ATA/ – The southern Albanian city of Gjirokastra, often known as “the City of Stone”, with the special houses architecture, the Castle with its history and legends as well as the natural beauty, is a UNESCO heritage site since 2005.

The Minister of Tourism and Environment Blendi Klosi on Saturday posted a video showing the city’s beauties, its rare architecture, the slate-roofed houses, vertiginous streets paved with limestone, and the historic castle assembled from rock hewn from the surrounding mountains.

“Gjirokastra, the stone city, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2005. Enjoy via these video images the rare architecture of Gjirokastra houses, the castle, its history and legends and the nature beauties of the area,” Klosi said.
