TIRANA, March 23/ATA/- Former Minister of Health Ilir Beqaj has made an analysis regarding the measures taken by the government in the fight against COVID-19 and compared it with the Sweden, which did the opposite of what Albania has undertaken.
In the analysis made, the SP lawmaker argues that so far the situation has been good and when things are going well it is not appropriate to praise the government.
According to him, if the Albanian government cannot be curse for the management of the COVID-19 epidemic, they try to curse it for the extreme austerity measures and the consequences of these measures in the economy. Or for the insufficient financial support it has provided to alleviate the negative consequences on the economy, entrepreneurship, employment, etc.
“We are entering a new phase of dealing with COVID-19. Restrictive measures continue to be eased. ”
“Among the many discussions is the example of Sweden, which did not block the economic and social life of the country. Sweden and Albania have very little in common. However, let’s put Albania for a moment in the framework of the consequences of Sweden. On May 22, 2020, Sweden recorded a total of 32,809 cases of COVID-19 and 3,925 fatalities since the start of the epidemic. For 1 million inhabitants, it results in 3,251 cases and 389 fatalities “, said Beqaj.
The former minister added that, “If Albania had embraced the Swedish approach of non-restrictions, it would have the same effect on the health consequences of its citizens. We would have 9,249 confirmed cases with COVID-19 and 1,107 fatalities. I have not been able to imagine how the Albanian society would have experienced the extent of the consequences of COV-19 on the health of its fellow citizens, but since it did not happen, it is not worth to deal on it. z.tosku /. /a.g/p.s./
