TIRANA, May 22/ATA/ The Ministry of Health and Social Protection reported that in the last 24 hours, there have been identified 12 positive cases of coronavirus.
The Ministry also said that for more than 3 weeks there is no loss of life and 79% of those affected are already recovering.
Eugena Tomini, head of Surveillance and Epidemic Intelligence Service at the Institute of Public Health stated that, “The epidemic curve has been stable over the last two weeks, but with daily fluctuations compared to cases reported and identified by the epidemiological service. For more than 3 weeks, we have no loss of life and this is an indicator of the persistence of this epidemic outbreak. However, after a stable situation of cases that have required hospital service, today we have an increase in cases in the infectious hospital. “Currently, 17 patients are hospitalized and 5 of them are in intensive care.”
During the last 24 hours, 174 citizens were tested as suspects affected by COVID-19 and 12 cases were positively confirmed.
The geographical distribution of cases is as follows: 7 cases in Tirana, 2 in Fier, 2 in Kruja and 1 in Durrës. 6 citizens are cured.
Until today, 981 citizens across the country have been tested positive for COVID-19. About 79% of these are cured. There are currently 173 active people in our country with COVID-19, mainly in Tirana, Durres, Kruja, Shkodra.
Since the beginning of the epidemic, there have been performed over 14,000 molecular and serological tests. So far, there are over 1300 serological tests on health personnel and patients, with a total positivity of about 8%.
