TIRANA, October 9 /ATA/ – Following the signing of the agreement on a joint counter-terrorism action plan between Albania and the European Union, Interior Minister, Sandër Lleshaj appeared at a joint press conference with the European Union Commissioner for Migration, Internal Affairs and Citizenship, Dimitris Avramopoulos.
Interior Minister Lleshaj thanked the Commissioner Avramopoulos for his contribution to Albania’s steps towards the European integration.
“Albania behaves as an EU member state though still awaiting to open the EU accession talks. This is an important evidence of our commitment to the European values and standards. For the first time Albania became the host country of the Europol office in Tirana. It is the first time Europol opens its office in a non-EU member state and this is an important proof of Albania’s serious commitment to implementing European standards,” Lleshaj said.
