TIRANA, October 7 /ATA/- The vaccination schedule in our country includes a new vaccine, the rotavirus vaccine, which is offered free of charge to every child.

Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu gave the news while being at the Medical Center no. 8 in Tirana.

“Beginning from October 1 this year, a new Rotavirus vaccine has been added to the vaccination schedule, bringing it closer to the European standard. It is very important because it improves the health of our children from the dangerous rotavirus and its infections. About 30 thousand children will benefit annually,” said Manastirliu.

The rotavirus vaccine is free and it will be part of the national vaccination program and it begins on October 1, 2019 for all children born since August 1, 2019.

While highlighting the introduction of this vaccine, Albania approximates the vaccination scheme with the European countries such as Italy, Greece, and Austria. Manastirliu said that it saves to the budget of Albanian families about $ 3 million a year.

“The parents used to buy this high-cost vaccine at $ 100, but it is now free for every child born,” said Manastirliu./p.s./
