TIRANA, July 9 / ATA /- The fight against organized crime is a high priority for Albania, the Albanian Interior Affairs Minister Fatmir Xhafa stated Monday during his attendance at the Western Balkans Summit, in London.
A two-day EU-Western Balkans summit opened in London on Monday with a meeting of the foreign ministers of six Balkan nations and representatives of civil society. It is the fifth summit of EU leaders, representatives of EU institutions and senior officials from the countries of Southeast Europe aspiring to join the European Union.
The Albanian Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafaj assessed the organization of the Summit as an opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen economic stability, improve regional security cooperation, good-neighbourly relations, as well as cooperation on tackling the issue of migration.
During the Western Balkans Summit, the Albanian Interior Minister, Xhafaj also highlighted the positive outcome achieved by the Special Task Force regarding the identification and arrest of a number of high-risk criminals , including their assets investigation.
At the end of the London Summit, the participating parties adopted a statement on the commitment to jointly confront security threats, including organized crime, violent extremism, terrorism and terrorist financing, corruption, money laundering, smuggling of human beings, smuggling of migrants, arms and drug trafficking and cyber threats. //a.i/
