TIRANA, April 13/ATA/-There will be tough sanctions against everyone that pollutes environment and damage tourism.
During a meeting with local leaders on the tourist season, Prime Minister Edi Rama warned of tough sanctions including heavy fines on all the hotels that fail to treat sewage, but pump them into the sea.
The prime minister also listed other cases that will be subject of sanctions like throwing of refuse everywhere and noise pollution.
PM Rama said that the government has set June 1 as the deadline for all the hotels to stop pumping sewage into the sea.
The prime minister said that all the hotels must abide by the legal framework obligations they have agreed to at the beginning of their activity including treatment of sewage by their own internal facilities.
Meanwhile, he reminded that the government has reduced into 6% VAT on hotels.
As the government ministers cannot take holidays abroad, the prime minister said that every minister will take care of certain areas along the coast. /p.s./
